Scoot is bringing a taste of Asia to Sydney through its Scoot Stopover Cafe pop-up, a four-day activation serving free destination-inspired coffee and tea creations across the city.
Running from 29 October to 1 November, the Scoot Stopover Cafe will visit Circular Quay, Parramatta Square, Martin Place and Chatswood, with drinks inspired by destinations across the airline’s network. Visitors can also spin a prize wheel for the chance to win Scoot travel vouchers and merchandise.
Scoot’s general manager for Australia, Adam Kelly, told Travel Weekly that the cafe concept was designed to give Sydneysiders a dose of travel inspiration, while allowing the airline to connect with potential customers face to face.
“To be able to actually stand here, have a conversation with people, and find out what they’re thinking about in terms of travelling; it’s a kind of survey and feedback that you don’t often get an opportunity to do,” Kelly said.

Engaging travellers
The pop-up reflects Scoot’s broader efforts to make the travel experience more engaging, including through themed aircraft interiors and special liveries.
The airline has maintained its Pokémon partnership since 2022 and recently collaborated with Spider-Man, with activations designed to bring an added element of fun to the passenger journey.

“It’s obvious that it engages young children, but the amount of older adults that have embraced it as well has been incredible,” Kelly said of the Pokémon partnership.
“As long as we can engage people, and they’re having an enjoyable journey, that’s just a bonus,” Kelly said.
Scoot’s focus on the customer experience comes as the airline celebrates its recent Skytrax recognition, winning the World’s Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airline award, which Kelly described as a source of pride for the business.
“We’re honoured to have that award for six years in a row now. We take it with pride, but we also don’t take it for granted.”
Kelly added that maintaining the recognition required a continued focus on service across the airline.
“We’re continually looking at the ways that we can improve our service and what we offer to customers, because we want to maintain that,” he said.
“The award is really just a reflection of the hard work that everyone has put in across the entire group.”
The future of Scoot in Australia
For Australian travellers looking to explore more of Asia, Scoot is continuing to expand its network, with Kelly hinting at announcements in the near future.
“We always look at opportunities to increase our capacity across Australia to provide better connectivity and more availability,” he said.
Sister carrier Singapore Airlines is set to commence services from Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport from November 23. Kelly said Scoot had no immediate plans to follow, although the airline would continue to monitor opportunities.
“Western Sydney is an extremely important market to us,” he said. “We know that they come into Sydney Airport and they fly with us a lot. So, there may well be the opportunity, but we’ll just see.”
The airline continues to engage with the trade through consortium partners and industry activations, with its expanding network providing further opportunities to connect Australian travellers with destinations across Asia.
